Agapanthia asphodeli, a species widely distributed in Mediterranean region, has been described from Bordeaux environs (France) as Lamia asphodeli by Pierre-André Latreille in 1804 [✱]. Its subspecies A. asphodeli balcanica, known from Greece, has been described by Milan E. F. Sláma from Villia environs (Attiki, Greece) in 2019 [❖].

Distribution:Greece


The depicted beetle was collected on the host plant (Asphodelus microcarpus) near Mandra (Μάνδρα) (Abdera municipal unit, Xanthi regional unit, East Macedonia and Thrace, NE Greece).
