Acanthocinus (Acanthocinus) elegans, a rare endemic species occuring in Azerbaijan and NW Iran, has been described from Azerbaijan by Ludwig Ganglbauer in 1884 [▽].

Body length:7 - 12 mm
Life cycle:1 year
Adults in:May - June
Host plant:polyphagous on deciduous trees (Quercus, Carpinus)
Distribution:Azerbaijan, Iran


The depicted beetles were collected on the dead oak (Quercus sp.) in Gorgan environs (Mazandaran province, Iran).
