Agapanthia gemella, an endemic species to Cyprus, has been described from Mandria environs (Limassol district, Cyprus) by Carolus Holzschuh in 1989 [❖]. Larvae of A. gemella feed in central part of stalks of the living Erophaca baetica orientalis. At the end of the season, larva girdles the stalk just at the ground level and the stalk falls off. The pupation takes place in cut-off part of the stalk [✳]. Life cycle 1 year. Adults, active from late March to early June, are anthophilous and can be found on the host plats where feed on blossoms and young leafs.
