Anastrangalia dubia, in coloration very variable Western Palaearctic species, has been described from Carniola (Slovenia) as Leptura dubia by Giovanni Antonio Scopoli in 1763 [▽]. Its nominotypic subspecies A. dubia dubia, a typical inhabitant of submontane and montane coniferous forests, is widespread from the Iberian Peninsula to Turkey with an isolated population in Algeria. Pupation takes place not deep under the surface of the wood, it overwinters in the larval stage. Life cycle 2 years.
