Chlorophorus aegyptiacus, an East Medirranean species occuring in Balcan Peninsula and Turkey, has been described from "Oriente" as Callidium aegyptiacum by Johann Christian Fabricius in 1775 [✧].

Body length:7 - 10 mm
Life cycle:2 - 3 years
Adults in:May - July
Host plant:polyphagous in deciduous trees (Quercus, Pistacia)
Distribution:Bulgaria, Crete, Greece, Macedonia, Turkey


The depicted beetle was reared from a dead kermes oak (Quercus coccifera) branch found in Malia (North Crete).
