Chlorophorus hircanus, a rare species endemic to Iran, has been described from "Astrabad" (nowadays Gorgan, Iran) as Clytanthus hircanus by Maurice Pic in 1905 [❖].

Body length:9 - 13 mm
Life cycle:2 years
Adults in:May - June
Host plant:unknown, probably polyphagous in deciduous trees as the sister species from C. nivipictus-cluster
Distribution:an endemic species to Iran


The depicted beetle was beaten from blossoming hawthorn (Crataegus sp.) in Kīnj (كينج‎) village environs (1550-1600 m a.s.l, Kojur district, Nowshahr county, Māzandarān province, Iran) in May 22, 2019.
