Coptops aedificator, a broadly distributed species occuring in Arabian peninsula, South and South-East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Cape Verde and Indian Ocean islands, has been described from East India as Lamia aedificator by Johann Christian Fabricius in 1793 [✧]. C. aedificator is a broadly polyphagous species which larvae feed under/in a bark of broadleaf trees. Life-cycle one year, adults are nocturnal and can be found on the host trees or attracted by light [❖][✩][✮].

The depicted beetle were: ♂ - reared from larva found in Hawf (حوف) village environs (N16°39′ E53°03′; 191 m a.s.l., Jabal al Fatk Mts., Al Mahrah governorate, Yemen) on April 2, 2007; ♀ - collected in Hammam Ali (حمام علي) village environs (N14°40′ E44°10′; 1677 m a.s.l., Dhamar governorate, Yemen) on April 12, 2007.Collected by Petr Kabátek
