Cortodera femorata, a broadly distributed but relatively rare European species of coniferous and mixed forests, has been described from Halle environs (Saxony-Anhalt, Germany) as Leptura femorata by Johann Christian Fabricius in 1787 [▽]. C. femorata larvae develop in decaying wood debris of coniferous trees in the upper layer of forest litter, often in the fallen spruce or pine cones. The life cycle two years. Adults, active from end of April to early July, are diurnal and anthophilous (often visit blossomig trees and shrubs - Quercus, Pinus, Crataegus etc.) [❖][✮][✳].
