Derolus iranensis, a species distributed in Iran, Arabian peninsula, Afghanistan and Pakistan, has been described from Iran as Derolus mauritanicus iranensis by Maurice Pic in 1956 [▽].
Its subspecies Derolus iranensis arabicus, occuring in Arabian peninsula, has been described from Oman by Gianfranco Sama in 2008 [❖].

The depicted mounted beetles were collected in Ar Rajmī wadi environs (374 m a.s.l., Al Bāţinah region, Oman) on April 3, 2018.
The living specimen was reared from larva found in Vachellia sp. in Shinas (شناص) environs
(N24°45′32″ E56°19′35″; 122 m a.s.l., Al Bāţinah region, Oman) on January 30, 2020.
