Derolus mauritanicus, a North-African species occuring from Morocco to Lybia, has been described from Algeria as Hammaticherus mauritanicus by Jean Baptiste
Lucien Buquet in 1840 [▽]. D. mauritanicus larvae develop in living branches of Nerium oleander, but also in Rhus, Calotropis, Ficus carica.
Life cycle two or three years. Adults hatch at the end of summer or in autumn, overwinter in their pupal cells and emerge the next spring from February (in Sahara) to June [✧][❖].

Depicted mounted beetles were collected in: ♂ - 3 km S Ouzoud Falls (Tanaghmeilt environs, Azilal province, Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, Morocco) on May 2-3, 2012;
♀ - 18 km SE of Goulmima (Errachidia province, Drâa-Tafilalet region, Morocco) on May 2, 2018. The living female beetle was reared from larva collected in a dying oleander
branch in Outghal (اوتغال) village environs (N31°17′24″ W07°55′34″; 1180 m a.s.l., 7 km SEE of Tahannaout, Al Haouz province, Marrakesh-Safi region, Morocco) in June 2009.
