Deroplia niveopicta, a nocturnal species endemic to Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain), has been described by Carl von Demelt in 1982 [❖]. The species is probably monophagous on Launaea arborescens (Batt.) Murb. (Asteraceae).

Body length:8 - 13 mm
Life cycle:1 - 2 years
Adults in:April
Host plant:Launaea arborescens (Batt.) Murb. (Asteraceae)
Distribution:a species endemic to Gran Canaria (Canary Islands)


The depicted beetles were reared from larvae found in dead twigs of Launaea arborescens in Dunas de Maspalomas (Maspalomas, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands).
