Dorcadion (Cribridorcadion) equestre was described from Southern Russia as Cerambyx equestis by Erich Laxmann in 1770 [❖]. Its rare subspecies D. equestre bisuturale, known from SE Bulgaria and Greece (Macedonia), has been described from NE Greece as Dorcadion equestre var. bisuturale by Czech entomologist Štĕpán Jureček in 1933 [✧].

The depicted male beetle was collected in Ski centre in Volakas (Βώλακας) environs (Falakro Oros Mt., Drama, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Greece) on May 8-10, 20214.
