Dorcadion regulare, a species occuring in North-Eastern Greece, Bulgaria and European part of Turkey, has been described from Edirne environs (Turkey) by Maurice Pic in 1931 [✱]. Its supspecies, D. regulare sapkaianum endemic to North-Eastern Greece, has been described from Sapka (Thrace, Greece) by Otto Erich Krätschmer in 1987 [❖].
The infra-specific structure of the taxon regulare and the validity of its three known subspecies is relatively complicated and debatable, even in relation to the closely related Dorcadion (Cribridorcadion) pedestre (Poda, 1761). Individual subspecies have a number of transitional forms, as demonstrated in published photographs depicting individuals exhibiting features of two subspecies, D. regulare dramaticum Pesarini et Sabbadini, 2010 and D. regulare sapkainum Krätschmer, 1987. Moreover the second one is sometimes referred as a separate species. So far, the taxonomy of Dorcadion regulare is best processed in the work of Carlo Pesarini and Andrea Sabbadini published in 2010 [✯].
