Kabatekiipsebium yemenensis, a fascinating small Cerambycid from Psebiini tribe endemic to South of Arabian Peninsula, has been described from Oman and Yemen (and also included into newly estabilished genus) by Pierpaolo Rapuzzi in 2015 [▽]. The genus Kabatekiipsebium is easy to distinguish from all other genera of Psebiini tribe by its particular shape of antennae, the length of the elytra and legs, and for the very small size of its body. A significant sexual dimorphism is also typical for the species [▽]. K. yemenensis larvae develop in wood of Fabaceae (Vachellia spp., Prosopis cineraria) and nocturnal adults can be attracted to light.
Body length: 4 - 6 mm Life cycle: 1 - 2 years [?] Adults in: April - September Host plant: Vachellia spp. (= Acacia), Prosopis cineraria (Fabaceae) Distribution: endemic to South of Arabian Peninsula (Oman, Yemen)
The depicted beetles were reared from larvae feeding in Prosopis cineraria branches found found in Wadi Ataq (422 m a.s.l., 18 km NW of Saadha/Al-Saadah/سدح, Dhofar governorate, Oman) on September 20, 2019.Collected by Jan Pelikán
