Parmena balearica, a rare species endemic to Balearic Islands, was described from Sa Coma de n'Arbona environs (Mallorca) by Eduardo Vives in 1998 [❖].
Species was included into a newly estabilihed subgenus Pilosoparmena by Maxim A. Lazarev in 2024 [✮].

The depicted beetle was reared from larva found in Helleborus foetidus branch in the type locality (Sa Coma de n'Arbona, Sóller, Mallorca lsland, Spain) on May 26, 2013.
