Pedostrangalia (Neosphenalia) emmipoda, an elegant East Mediterranean flower visiting species, has been described from Turkey as Strangalia emmipoda by Étienne Mulsant in 1863 [▽]. According to Gianfranco Sama [❖][✮], P. emmipoda larvae develop in the dead parts of living deciduous trees, so the biology is probably very similar to Pedostrangalia revestita (Linnaeus, 1767). Adults, active in May and July, are diurnal and anthophilous.

Body length:11 - 16 mm
Life cycle:2 years [?]
Adults in:May - July
Host plant:polyphagous in deciduous trees (Carpinus sp., Quercus cerris)
Distribution:South Greece (Rhodos), Syria, Lebanon, Turkey

The depicted beetle collected in Sebil village environs (Çamlıyayla district, Mersin province, Turkey) on May 30, 2010.
