Upper two photos show part of the bark of an oak (Quercus robur; Czechia) infested with Phymatodes (Phymatodes) testaceus. On the left is the upper surface of the bark with clear exit holes, on the right is an identical part of the bark photographed from the underside.

Lower photos depict parts of unbarked oak boards (Quercus robur; Czechia) infested with P. testaceus with distinct larval galleries and holes where the larvae entered the wood before pupation and formed pupal cells. Two small photographs then show the hooked pupal cells in section.
