Pilemia annulata, a rare Transcaucasian species, has been described as Phytoecia annulata by Clemens Hampe in 1852 [❖].
P. annulata wawerkana, its subspecies endemic to Turkey, has been described from Akbez environs (Hatay province, Turkey) by
Edmund Reitter in 1905 [✧]. The biology of this taxon is most likely identical to the nominotypical subspecies
P. annulata annulata (Hampe, 1852).
