Phytoecia farinosa, a known from Iran and Turkmenistan, has been described from Shâhrūd environs (Iran) by Ludwig Ganglbauer in 1886 [❖]. The subgenus Pseudomusaria, into which the species was included, was established by Maurice Pic in 1900 [▽].

The depicted beetle was collected in Chuli (Çüli) valley (20 km SSE of Gögdepe, Kopetdag Mts., Ashgabat province, Turkmenistan) on April 19, 1984.
