Phytoecia (Helladia) fatima has been described from "Persia" by Ludwig Ganglbauer in 1884 [❖]. Later this taxon was only considered a subspecies of Phytoecia (Helladia) pretiosa Faldermann, 1837, now it is again a separate species. But the discussions about the taxonomic relationship between P. pretiosa and P. fatima are far from over... The nominotypical subspecies P. (H.) fatima fatima is known from Azerbaijan, Iran, Syria, and Turkey.
Body length: 10 - 12 mm Life cycle: 1 year Adults in: May - June Host plant: Onopordum carduchorum (Asteraceae) Distribution: Azerbaijan, Iran, Syria, Turkey
The depicted mounted beetles were collected in: ♂ - 20 km SW of Simak (1500 m a.s.l., Meşindağı Geçidi, Siirt province, Turkey) on May 28, 2011; ♀ - Qosmalyan village envirions (N38°38′59″ E48°22′53″; ~1650 m a.s.l, Lerik district, Lankaran–Astara economic region, Azerbaijan) on May 17-20, 2012.
