Pogonocherus ressli, a rare Irano-Turanian species known from North Iran and Azerbaijan (Talysh Mts.), has been described from Nowshahr environs (Iran) by Carolus Holzschuh in 1977 [❖]. Larvae of P. ressli develop in dead/dying twigs and branches of various deciduous trees (Carpinus, Pterocarya, Tilia) [✧].
Body length: 4 - 5 mm Life cycle: 1 - 2 years Adults in: April - August Host plant: polyphagous in deciduous trees (Carpinus, Pterocarya, Tilia) Distribution: North Iran, Azerbaijan (Talysh Mts.)
The depicted beetle was reared from larva found in Carpinus twig in Kīnj (كينج) village environs (1550-1600 m a.s.l., Kojur District, Nowshahr County, Mazandaran province, Iran) in May 2019.Collected by Milan Pažitka
