Purpuricenus talyschensis, a spectacular and typical but rare representative of the Caspian fauna, has been described from Talysh Mts. (Azerbaijan) as Purpuricenus Deyrollei var. talyschensis by Edmund Reitter in 1891 [✮].
Body length: 12 - 18 mm Life cycle: 2 - 3 years Adults in: last decade of April - June Host plant: Quercus Distribution: Iran, Azerbaijan (Talysh Mts.) [❖]
The depicted beetles were collected in Kīnj (كينج) village environs (1550-1600 m a.s.l, Kojur district, Nowshahr county, Māzandarān province, Iran) in May 18, 2019.Collected by Petr Jelínek
