Ropalopus mali, interesting and rare Ropalopus species from Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan) developing in wood of wild apple trees (Malus sieversii), has been described by Carolus Holzschuh in 1993 [❖].

Body length:9.3 - 18.1 mm

Host plant:wild apple tree (Malus sieversii)
Distribution:Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan


The depicted mounted male beetles were captured 32 km E Karakul (1373 m a.s.l., Karasu river, Jalal-Abad region, Kyrgyzstan) on June 6-7, 2018. Both specimens are males, which differ in colour scheme - a typical form has dark legs.
