Strangalia attenuata, in coloration very variable Eurasian thermophilic species widespread from the Iberian Peninsula to Japan, has been described from "Europa" as Leptura attenuata
by Carl Linné in 1758 [▽]. At the beginning of entomological research, this species was evidently more widespread and common than today, being recorded many times in Central and West Europe.
Larval development in decaying wood of deciduous trees, mostly in basal parts of stumps. Life cycle at least 2 years. Adults, active from June to early September, are diurnal and anthophilous

Primorsky Krai, Far Eastern federal district, Russia) on August 26, 2018. The living specimens were collected in: (DR) - Noroieni village environs (Comuna Lazuri, Satu Mare county,
Nord-Vest region, Romania) on July 14, 2018; Horní luh at Ivaň (Ivaň, Brno-Country district, South Moravia region, Czechia) on August 10, 2013; (MR) - Nida environs (Curonian Spit, Neringa municipality, Klaipėda county, Lithuania) on July 27 - August 3, 2023.
