Trichoferus antonioui, a rare nocturnal species endemic to Cyprus, has been described from Stavrovouni environs by Gianfranco Sama in 1994 [❖]. Larvae of this beetle develop in living shrubs of Cistus creticus. Adults hatch very late in summer.

Life cycle:2 years
Adults in:August - September
Host plant:Cistus creticus
Distribution:an endemic species to Cyprus


The depicted beetles were reared from larvae found in living branches of Cistus creticus collected 2 km S of Eptagoneia (Επταγώνεια) village (517 m a.s.l., Limassol district, Cyprus) in April 2022.
