Trichoferus kotschyi, a species occuring in South-East Mediterranean region (Samos Island, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey), has been described from Taurus Mts. (South Turkey) as Hesperophanes Kotschyi by Ludwig Ganglbauer in 1883 [❖].

Body length:12 - 22 mm
Life cycle:2 - 3 years
Adults in:June - August
Host plant:polyphagous in deciduous trees and plants
Distribution:Greece [✧], Lebanon, Syria, Turkey

The depicted mounted adults of this very nice Trichoferus species were collected in Erdemli environs (Mersin province, South-West Turkey) in June 1998. Here, it seems to be broadly polyphagous on deciduous trees. Larvae, pupae, and adults of Trichoferus kotschyi were collected in oaks (Quercus spp.}, carob (Ceratonia siliqua), but also in dead herbaceous plants. The living beetle was collected in Lebanon in 2016.
