Trichoferus magnanii, an endemic species to Spain, has been described from Jaén by Gianfranco Sama in 1992 [❖]. Larvae of this interesting species develop in many Cistus species - e.g. Cistus albidus, Cistus ladanifer, Cistus villosus, Cistus creticus.
Body length: 13 - 15 mm Life cycle: 2 years Adults in: June - August Host plant: Cistus spp. (Cistaceae) Distribution: species endemic to Spain
The depicted specimens were collected in: ♂ Saelices environs (Cuenca province, Castile-La Mancha, Spain) on July 20, 2012; ♀ Pruna environs (Sevilla province, Andalucia, Spain) on June 25, 2012.
