Vesperus conicicollis hispalensis, a subspecies occuring in south of Iberian peninsula (Spain and Portugal), has been described from Sevilla environs (Spain) as Vesperus hispalensis by José María Hugo de la Fuente Morales in 1901 [▽]. In "Atlas fotográfico de los cerambícidos ibero-baleares" by Eduard Vives i Noguera published in 2001, it was regarded as a subspecies of the taxon Vesperus conicicollis Fairmaire & Coquerel, 1866 [❖]. V. conicicollis hispalensis larval biology is not known, but with a high probability will be similar to the related species (i.e. development in soil on roots of trees, shrubs or herbaceous plants). Adults, active in late summer and early autumn, are nocturnal and can be attracted by ultraviolet light [✧].
