Xenoderolus arabicus, a rare endemic species to Arabian peninsula (Oman, Saudi Arabia, Yemen), has been described as Microderolus arabicus from Habarut environs (Yemen) by André Villiers in 1968 [✧].
Into newly estabilished genus Xenoderolus it was incorporated by Gianfanco Sama in 2007 [❖]. Larvae of this interesting beetle are developing in dying or dead wood of Vachellia (= Acacia) trees.
Adults, active from March to August, are crepuscular/nocturnal and can be collected sitting or running after dusk on dead branches/twigs of the host trees or attracted to light traps [❖][✮].
