Agapanthia (Agapanthia) cardui is a widespread species in Central and Southern Europe southward to southern Greece, Italy (southward to Sicily) and Spain (to Gibraltar). Larvae develop in stalks of various herbaceous plants, life-cycle one year. Adults can be found on host plants from April to July.

The depicted beetles were collected in Soutok Game Reserve (Pohansko Chateau environs, Břeclav ditrict, South Moravia Czechia) on June 5, 2016.
