Clytus arietis is one of the most common European longhorn beetles. Larvae of this broadly polyphagous species feed in dead branches and trunks of plethora of broadleaf trees and bushes, exceptionally of junipers. Pupation occurs in the wood in autumn or in spring. Adults can be found on white flowers or fallen stems from April to July. C. arietis regularly emerge from firewood and can be found on the walls of woodsheds or houses even in winter [▽][★].

Clytus arietis has been described from "Europa" as Leptura arietis by Carl Linné in 1758 [✳].

The first two mounted specimens were captured in Pouzdřany environs (Břeclav district, South Moravia, Czechia) on May 17, 2020. The mounted female with very rare elytral pattern was collected by our friend Jakub Rolčík in Abant Lake (Abant Gölü) environs (Bolu Province, NE Turkey) in June 1996. The living beetles were reared from larvae collected in Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area (Central Bohemia, Czechia) during winter 2020-2021.
