Dorcadion acutispinum, an endemic species to Eastern Kazakhstan (valley of the Kapal River and its surroundings in the northern range of Dzungarian Alatau), has been described from "Songaria" (Dzungaria) by Victor Motschulsky in 1860 [❖]. The species inhabits sparse grasslands with sandy plots in a river valley. Adults are active at the turn of April and May.

Host plant:larvae feed on roots of various grass species (Poaceae)
Distribution:endemic to Eastern Kazakhstan


The depicted beetles were collected 12 km SW of Arasan (Арасан) village (N45°12′01″ E79°14′10″, Aksu district, Almaty region, Kazakhstan) on May 12, 2015.
