Iranocoptosia fausti, an interesting Irano-Anatolian species occuring in Iran and Turkmenistan, has been described from "Persia" as
Phytoecia (Coptosia) Fausti by Ludwig Ganglbauer in 1886 [▽]. The same species was described again from Iran as
Iranocoptosia balachowskyi by André Villiers in 1967, who also established a new genus Iranocoptosia for this taxon [✧].
The synonymy was published by Mikhail Danilevsky in 1993 [❖].
