Parmena subpubescens, rare species endemic to South Italy (Calabria) and Italian islands (Sardinia, Sicilia, Aegadian Islands) was described from Lavazo (Aegadian Islands) by Klaus Hellrigl in 1971 [❖].

Body length:7 - 9 mm
Life cycle:1 - 2 years
Adults in:April - October
Host plant:develops in Euphorbia dendroides and in deciduous trees (known from Ficus carica, Nerium oleander)
Distribution:South Italy, Sicily, Sardinia [✧]


The depicted mounted specimens were collected in Monte Nieddu environs (Sarróch, Metropolitan City of Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy) on May 20-24, 1996. The depicted living beetles were reared from dead branches of Nerium oleander and Euphorbia dendroides collected in Sardinia.
