Phytoecia melanocephala, a species occuring in Maghreb and Sicily, has been described from Africa as Saperda melanocephala by Johann Christian Fabricius in 1787 [▽]. Taxon was moved to the restituted subgenus Obereina Ganglbauer, 1886 by Mikhail Danilevsky in 2018 [✩].
