Pygoptosia speciosa, a striking species occuring in Iran, Liban, Syria and Turkey, has been described from Diyarbakır environs (East Turkey) as Phytoecia speciosa by Johann Frivaldszky in 1884 [✳]. From Turkey and Syria P. speciosa was reported to be associated with Klasea cerinthifolia (Asteraceae) and from Turkey with Klasea oligocephala (Asteraceae).

The depicted beetles were collected on Klasea oligocephala in the plateaus under summit of Nemrut Dagi Mt. (Adiyaman province, Anatolia, SE Turkey) on June 10, 1995 / June 9, 2011 [❖].Collected by Michal Hoskovec
