Psilotarsus brachypterus brachypterus, an endemic taxon to East Kazakhstan, has been described as Prionus brachypterus from Kazakhstan part of the Irtysh valley by Friedrich August Gebler in 1830 [▽]. P. brachypterus larvae develop on the roots of desert trees and shrubs (Salsola arbuscula, Krascheninnikovia spp., etc.). The seasonal activity of adults lasts for a very short time, about two weeks, but, in different seasons this period can significantly shift towards May or towards the end of July. Females do not fly [★].

Host plant:polyphagous on roots of desert trees and shrubs (Salsola arbuscula, Krascheninnikovia spp., etc.)
