Depicted mountain pasture groves with Kermes oak (Quercus coccifera) in Tizi n'Test (تيزي نتاست) pass environs (1900-2100 m a.s.l., Haut Atlas Mts., Taroudant Province, Souss-Massa-Drâa region, Morocco) - a typical habitat of Purpuricenus barbarus (Lucas, 1849).

The Kermes oak (Quercus coccifera) twig attacked by Purpuricenus barbarus (Lucas, 1849) - pupae, freshly hatched beetle in the pupal cell and an empty pupal cell.
