Adults of Purpuricenus nanus Semenov, 1907 were collected on the globe thistle Echinops aff. ilicifolius (Cynareae, Carduoideae, Asteraceae) in semi-desert treeless habitat, located 3.5 km N of Varkān (وركان) village (2092 m a.s.l., Barzok district, Kashan vounty, Isfahan province, Iran) on May 22-23, 2017.

Depicted globe thistle Echinops aff. ilicifolius* (Cynareae, Carduoideae, Asteraceae) according to our observation serves with a high probability as the host plant of Purpuricenus nanus Semenov, 1907.
