The taxonomic position and name of this not very well known endemic Russian Far-East species have an interesting and complicated history. It was first described as
Microlera ussuriensis according to three old specimens collected in Ussuri region in the first third of the 20th century by Alexei Ignatevich Tsherepanov
in 1983 and assigned to the tribe Acanthocinini [❖ / translation in ✮]. Soon Alexei I. Tsherepanov managed to obtain a recently collected specimen of the species
and he described it a year later as Miaenia florovi, referring it to the tribe Apomecynini. In 1987, Andrei L. Lobanov visited Novosibirsk and studying the Tsherepanov'
collection established conspecificity of all specimens of the two species. In 1989, Alexander I. Miroshnikov, studying the ZIN specimen of the species, proved that it
belongs to a completely different tribe - Apodasyini and described for this species a new genus Pseudomesosella Miroshnikov, 1989 [✳]. Later it was found out that this
generic name was preoccupied (Stefan Breuning described the subgenus Pseudomesosella in the genus Falsomesosella - tribe Mesosini in 1939). In this connection,
A.I. Miroshnikov changed the generic name to Quasimesosella leaving it in the tribe Apodasyini in 2006 [✱]. The "adventures" of Quasimesosella ussuriensis
(Tsherepanov, 1983 did not end here and now is this taxon assigned to the tribe Desmiphorini Thomson, 1860.
