Stenocorus (Anisorus) latus, a very rare beetle occuring in Turkey and Syria, has been described from “Haute Syrie” as Toxotus? insitivus var. latus by Maurice Pic in 1892 [✧]. Hussein Özdikmen et al., in their paper devoted to Turkish Stenocorus, accepted Toxotus insitivus var. latus Pic, 1892 as S. auricomus latus (Pic, 1892). Situation of this taxon was complicated also by the fact, that in the same paper they described from Turkey a new species - S. (S.) guveni in 2014 [❖]. According to Mikhail L. Danilevsky, however, it is a synonym of S. latus (see the MLD comments below).

Excerpted from [▽]:

Stenocorus latus (Pic, 1892) = Stenocorus guveni Özdikmen, 2014, syn. nov. based on the original description. Types of both names have very short 3rd and 4th antennal joints.

Stenocorus latus (Pic, 1892), stat. nov.: Toxotus insitivus var. latus Pic, 1892 [“Haute Syrie”] was Accepted by Özdikmen, Cihan & Kaya (2014) as S. auricomus latus (Pic, 1892). A syntype-female of Toxotus insitivus var. latus Pic, 1892 incorrectly published (and figured) as “holotype”, has extremely short 3rd and 4th antennal joints, that is never the case in S. insitivus. S. auricomus (Reitter, 1890f:) normally has long 3rd and 4th antennal joints. So, Stenocorus latus Pic, 1892, stat. nov. must be accepted as another species.
