Stenurella septempunctata septempunctata is a xerothermic flower visitor distributed in West, Central and South-East Europe. The larval dvelopment takes place in plant residues on the soil. Larvae were found in fallen decaying branches of beech (Fagus) and hazel (Corylus). Pupation in spring and early summer in food substrate, life-cycle probably two years. Adults, active from May to August, are diurnal and anthophilous [❖][▽].
The species was transferred to a newly estabilished Rutpela-subgenus Nigromacularia based on molecular and morphometric characters by Andrii M. Zamoroka et al. in 2022 [✳].
