Stictoleptura tangeriana, an endemic species to Morocco, has been described from Tanger environs as Leptura tangeriana by Henri Tournier in 1875 [❖]. S. tangeriana is a very variable species in color, both red and completely black individuals are known. Larvae of this interesting, in Morocco widely distributed deciduous submontane and montane (up to 1800 m a.s.l.) forest species, develop in oaks (reported from Quercus suber). Adults, active in June and July, are diurnal and anthophilous [✧][▽].

The depicted mounted female beetles were collected on flowers in Aguelmam Azigza National Park (Khenifra environs, Middle Atlas Mts., Khenifra province, Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, Morocco) on June 6, 1995. The living males were collected in Oulmes (أولماس) environs (Khémisset province, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, Morocco) on May 21, 2022.Collected by our friend Jakub Rolčík and by Petr Jelínek
