Tetrops starkii, a widely distributed but local and relatively rare European Tetrops species, has been described from Bavarian Alpes (Germany) by Louis Alexandre Auguste Chevrolat in 1859 [❖]. T. starkii starkii larvae develop in terminal twigs of ashes (Fraxinus) up to 2-3 cm in diameter, usually in treetops. Adults can be beaten from the branches, leaves and blossoms of the host tree in May and June [✧].
