Xylosteus bartoni, a rare montane species endemic to South-East part of Balcan Peninsula, has been described from Belasica planina Mts. (Bulgaria) by Jan Obenberger and Josef Mařan in 1933 [✮].

Body length:14 - 18 mm
Life cycle:2 - 3 years
Adults in:June - July
Host plant:pine (Pinus) and spruce (Picea)
Distribution:Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia


Depicted beetles were collected in South Bulgaria.
