Deroplia lorenzoi, a rare nocturnal species endemic to La Palma Island (Canary Islands), has been described by Rafael García-Becerra in 2002 [❖]. Larvae of D. lorenzoi develop in dying/dead branches of living Lavandula canariensis shrubs.

Body length:6.7 - 10 mm
Life cycle:2 years
Adults in:April-December
Host plant:Lavandula canariensis (Lamiaceae)
Distribution:a species endemic to La Palma Island (Canary Islands Spain)


The depicted specimen was collected in 6 km SW Puntagorda (200 m a.s.l., N28°46′ W18°00′, La Palma, Canary Islands) on December 27, 2007.
