Pilemia annulata, a rare Transcaucasian species, has been described as Phytoecia annulata by Clemens Hampe in 1852 [❖]. P. annulata wawerkana, its subspecies endemic to Turkey, has been described from Akbez environs (Hatay province, Turkey) by Edmund Reitter in 1905 [✧]. The biology of this taxon is most likely identical to the nominotypical subspecies P. annulata annulata (Hampe, 1852).

Depicted female beetle was collected in Fevzipaşa village environs (N37°06′ E36°36′; 1050 m a.s.l., 5 km SE of Hasanbeyli, Hasanbeyli district, Osmaniye province, Mediterranean region, Turkey) in June 2000.
