Stictoleptura (Hesperoleptura) palmi, an endemic species to Tenerife Island (Canary Islands), has been described from Tenerife as Leptura palmi by Carl demelt in 1971 [▽]. The species was included in the newly established subgenus Hesperoleptura by Eduardo Vives i Noguera in 2021 [❖]. S. palmi is a relatively very demanding species in terms of habitat requirements, preferring humid laurel forests. Its larvae develop in the stumps and old dead trunks of the Laurus novocanariensis always in an advanced state of saproxilization [❖][✮].
